BALI 09

I just got back yesterday night, & phewww. Was seriously exhausted okaay. Anyway, Bali turned out pretty good. New years was a real quiet one as you'd know why from my previous post. I'm pretty tanned now which.. is a good & a bad thing. It looks great when i'm wearing black & white BUT i'm going back to school. So that'd mean i'll be wearing orange. Ohhhhhh fuck. haha.

I'll blog about the trip anyways. :)

We landed @ Denpasar airport on a suuuuuper hot afternoon. It wasnt the heat from the sun that made us sweat, just the crazy humid air. :/

Anyways, even before lunch we adjourned right away to Ubud. The town we were staying in for 4 nights. ( or was it 3? )

Thennnn, we headed to our rooms! Sis & i shared one when the parents had theirs.

Outdoor shower too! <3

so yeap, finally had the time to have some late lunch. We slept pretty early that night after the exhaustion. haha.

This was the next morning! :) fresh & awake, we headed to the cafe for Indonesian breakfast then went for a walk with the sis around the resort.

where our rooms were.

ANYWAY, the next day we decided to roam around Ubud town. See the markets & eat eat eat!

petrol for bikes i think. It's everywhere in Bali.

organic is orgasmic ehh? :)

spot me :D

well, came to a stage where none of us could take the heat. haha. so we stopped at this beaaaautiful cafe :)

so as you walk in, you walk in deeper & deeper into the cafe.. you see trees, trees & more greens. haha.

Then our meals came! awesome food. Now i know why Aaron spends his money on food, not clothes. hahaha. Righttt? Just so you guys know, i barely bought anything for myself. It's too expensive anyways, peak season :/ Things like beachwear are actually cheaper here.

so yes, as usual. my dad would annoy my sis & end up fighting. heh

tsk tskkk..

our hut! :D the last one riiiiiiight in the "jungle"

i personally like this shot i took :)

Then we headed for a Kechak dance @ night. Some of the dances has dancers who are in a trance & stuff. The two small girls & the horse dude who walks on fire. :/ He even kicked a burning coconut husk onto an audience on the front row. Thank god not me!

Then came the two girls, which was pretty spooky.. Because they dance in perfect sync. With their eyes closed. hmmmm..

in the end, they had a priest to wake them.

anwyay, i liked this one. Drama! Someone in the crowd got burnt! hahaha.

lighting it uppppp

Well yeah, like the two girls, this guy was in a trance too. So he needed a priest. Till now, i still don't know if they're pretending to be in a trance or it's real. Just to make the show more interesting yknow..

Next day started our day a little later, but least i managed to catch a swim in the morning.

GARY'S GLAMOUR SHOT! :D

Had lunch at a typical local warung & had what everyone else had. Together with these :) - TehBotol & chicken feet skin. HAHA. no, everyone but me had that.

appetizing? :)

Then we drove to the paddy fields. Which was so breathtaking.

pretty view isn't it?

after that we headed to Taman Ayun. Which was just as scenic. In there's a palace which is closed. So we only get to see it from the outside.

everyone across the road fighting for US to be their customers! :D

so yeahp, after coconut & fooood, snoooozed off a little before arriving Uluwatu.

yeahp. can't show too much skin since it's kinda like a sacred place.

& there were tiny penis monkeys everywhere! haha. They should have a sarung for themselves :P

sunset :)

After walking steps & slopes, that really worked up an appetite. So, Jimbaran here we come!

Jagung for desert! Which i don't usually eat, but this was an exception. They had spicy & sweet flavoured jagung. YUMMMMMEEEHHHHH!
An indon friend of mine, Rizki was the one that asked me to go to Jimbaran for seafood. For sure, it wasn't a dissapointment at all. Reasonable & absolutely yummy. The food, the ambience, the friendly people.

my sister bought this from one of the salesman -.-

Our seafood in process

Only half?

After dinner :D all contented.

Okay, i skipped one part of the day cause i ate BABI GULING! :D Sorry malays, this babi was the bomb. I'm a pork fan by the way.
( photos & all are in the third camera we brought, sorryyy )

This was.. SHIT I FORGOT THE NAME D: but, it was up in the mountains, chilly like Cameron Highlands :)

& we had CRISPY DUCK this time for dinner. Seriously, crispy.

concentrating & stressing about the super tough duck.

So people, if you go to Bali & happen to be @ Ubud. Look out for this sign!

next morning was check out day! That's when everything slowed down a lil in Chandi Desa.. :/

BUT before leaving, we stopped @ Naughty Nuri's for ribs. Owned by an Australian man. He has got some special recipe that i'm dying to find out. Seriously awesome okaay.

my dad & his weird poses again. haha!

:)
Okay, had some drama later that day :/ Sarah dropped my DSLR which was in my dad's backpack. The lens is gone, but thank god the body is in perfect condition. Barely any photos in Chandi Desa but i'mma fill you in anyway.

Once i got there, decided to braid my hair. Just half of it, for a change :)
That whole day, we just lazed around anyway. The hotel is so lovely thou. CLICK!
Scroll down to flip through the photo albums if you have the time ehh?

Next day, we really started to get bored. It was new years eve by then. Sister got her hair braid then. heh.

So we drove down to Amed anyway for the beach. Then we decided to go snorkeling the next day after falling in love with the black sand & clear waters :) - never seen black sand in my life. I thought it was dirt :P

New year's eve dinner @ Le48 French restaurant.

Went back to Amed again on the 1st of Jan 2010!

& got tanned!

:)
Well, we left the next day. Felt horrible leaving the balinese people :/ They were incredibly friendly! It's crazy. If only Malaysians had that enthusiasm in them..

But like i said, it was good overall. I'd recommend that place to anyone. Families, Boyfriends & Girlfriends, Honeymoons, Class Trip or anything!

signing off,
samanthakoay.
